From 31 August 2026, Shopify will recalculate taxes when an order’s shipping address is updated. Until now, the new address was saved but the tax lines stayed as calculated at checkout. This is a change on Shopify’s side, not in Atlas.
It’s relevant if you enable Update shipping address in your pickup point configuration, which replaces the buyer’s address on the order with the pickup point address. Taxes will then be recalculated against the pickup point location. This only applies to entirely unfulfilled orders that can still be edited, and if you subscribe to the orders/edited webhook, you’ll receive it when a recalculation happens.
We don’t expect much impact outside the 🇺🇸 United States and 🇨🇦 Canada, where rates vary by state, county, and city. In Europe, VAT is mostly determined at country level and the pickup point sits in the same country as the buyer, so order totals should stay the same. No action is needed on your side.
